Before the move to the Montefiori site the practice had a BT callback facility at Addington Street which made ringing up to make an appointment so much easier. Sometimes it can take 20+ mins before one gets through.

I'm very happy with the service I receive from Dr Eldred and all of the receptionists who are always very pleasant and professional. However generally I am concerned that it is a busy surgery and I do fell that the government are putting huge pressures on all services and wonder how much financial restraint imposes on choice of treatment. But many thanks to everyone

I am concerned that the notice given to people who have emergency appointments is couched in terms that make them feel guilty for asking for it. Considering the number of people who suffer from mental illness and who make be put under unnecessary stress by this I would ask you to look at the wording consider my comment.

I moved here after having a very bad experience at another local GP surgery. East Cliff seems to be a well run practice and was recommended to me. Appointments take place on or very shortly after the arranged time, which is much appreciated. Receptionists are mostly efficient and always very pleasant. There are mix ups sometimes but they are always resolved with good grace, whereas sometimes support staff elsewhere can appear harried and even rude, this is never the case at East Cliff. I have never felt overly rushed in an appointment. The doctors seem efficient and mostly quite caring. As someone with complex chronic health challenges I am in general quite dissatisfied with the NHS ability to support me to achieve optimimum wellness but within the constraints of the system I have confidence in the doctors at East Cliff and believe in both their good intentions and clinical abilities, which means a lot as there are some doctors out there who do not inspire confidence and it is so important as a patient to feel that you can trust and believe in your doctor. I was somewhat disappointed by one of the doctors I saw at East Cliff seeming not to take my health concerns seriously, telling me: "we can't really do anything for fatigue", which is nonsense and completely unacceptable, but it was very easy for me to simply go to one of the other doctors at the practice who has been very much more supportive. I like being part of a large, well run, modern practice where I can have some confidence that good quality control measures are likely in place with regards to service delivery and where there is an element of choice if I see a doctor at any point that I am not happy with. Talking beyond my experience specifically with East Cliff, I think when doctors are presented with a patient experiencing hard to treat symptoms they generally could get people fit and back to work much more quickly if they were to pursue a wellness agenda more proactively and consider different options such as allergies, food intolerances, autoimmune conditions, Vitamin D deficiencies and even mindfulness techniques, etc, as potential solutions or partial solutions that should all be explored when the more obvious tests do not provide a clear diagnosis, or treatment for one condition does not resolve all symptoms. I think it would be more rewarding work for doctors and a greater contribution to society as a whole if the profession could have community wellness as a genuine goal. You might consider talks from "expert patients" to doctor groups to build understanding of patient perspectives and improve how "hard to treat" patients can be helped.
